America, the land of opportunity, the shining beacon of hope that proved to be the inspiration for millions throughout the nation's past is my country. Why do I love America? I think that this country's history can speak for itself.
From the nation's beginning, during the Colonial era, America was composed of a variety of ethnicities and races, ranging from the founding Englishmen to Scots-Irish and African Americans. Consequently, with this variety of people came a variety of viewpoints. This diversity has helped to shape America as a country. A difference in opinion has led to many of the items that define our nation, such as the Bill of Rights, the Civil War, the institution of democracy, etc.
These defining characteristics are why so many people choose America as their homeland. We are free to continue to voice our viewpoints, even if they may go against how the majority may view something, as guaranteed by the first amendment to the Bill of Rights. This pluralism is why this country continues to grow and change for the better.
Even though a difference of opinion is most common, I think it is wonderful how, when our nation must band together as one, we do so with few complaints. For example, we may not agree with how or why we went to war, but the American people support the brave men and women that risk their lives in the battlefield everyday. This is where the home of the brave comes into play. The first things that usually come to mind when someone hears the word brave are the men and women who work to protect this country, whether it be through the armed forces, police force, or firemen. There are so many more aspects to brave than that. America is so beautiful because it provides many opportunities to everyone, but in order to accept and pursue these opportunities, one must possess the quality of valor.
We are truly blessed to live in a country where each person does matter. Especially in the upcoming presidential elections, this is the time when we are able to make our voices heard. One aspect of living in the land of the free is that although we make mistakes, we learn and grow from them.
Of course people love America because of its civil liberties and form of government, but another reason that I love America is that it truly is a breath-taking country. It is home to many diverse settings and environments, ranging from frozen tundra to tropical paradise. We are home to outstanding beaches and beautiful countryside and farmland. We don't need to travel across the globe to experience a stunning landscape; we have that right here at home.
America is unique from any other place on earth for its government, the people that comprise the population, and its geographical features. I understand why so many people, including me, love America so much.
