Forest and Meadow | Raptors | Water Birds |
The subject of my final assignment in basic HTML was a web page presentation of Codorus State Park and Lake Maburg for those interested in viewing bird-life in the park. The photos in this project were all taken by me in or very near the park. My camera is an 8.1 megapixel Sony Cybershot with 15x optical zoom. It not an SLR - it's a "point and shoot" It's most difficult feature is getting distant objects in the viewfinder.
The nearly four thousand-acre Codorus State Park is in the rolling hills of extreme southern York County, PA, near the town of Hanover. The 1,200-acre Lake Marburg has 25 miles of shoreline and is a reststop for migrating waterfowl and shorebirds. The lake is also popular with sailboaters and motorboaters. Anglers love the lake for warm water fishing and can also fish Codorus Creek below the dam for trout.
Codorus State Park has several distinct avian environments: forest, field and meadow, wetland, and water. The fields of the park are great places to view and photograph sparrows, swallows and bluebirds. The forests of the park are habitat for thrushes and warblers, birds that are often absent from the developed land surrounding the park.
